First Workshop for Project “Trends in Inequality: Sources and Policy”
Lively discussions during the first workshop of the TRISP project´s international team at the House of Finance in Frankfurt
On 26 and 27 November 2018, the members of the international team of TRISP (“Trends in Inequality: Sources and Policy”) have met for the first workshop. It took place at Goethe University`s House of Finance. At the event, the team members presented early results from ten different papers, had lively discussions, coordinated research questions, and talked about adminstrative issues.
From SAFE and Goethe University, Alexander Ludwig (Professor of Public Finance and Debt Management) and Nicola Fuchs-Schündeln (Professor of Macroeconomics and Development) have been awarded funding for the project. Team members in the partner institutions are Per Krusell (Institute for International Economic Studies IIES), Mariacristina De Nardi (University College London) and Giulio Fella (Queen Mary University of London).
The project is funded by NORFACE (New Opportunities for Research Funding Agency Cooperation in Europe), a network of 19 national organizations in Europe that funds academic research in the social sciences. TRISP aims to evaluate the effects of inequality in income, wealth, hours worked and consumption on welfare and to quantitatively decompose the trends in inequality into their various sources. Further, the researchers aim to evaluate the impact of fiscal and monetary policies on inequality and to characterize welfare improving policies.
